The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona has a main distribution site on Country Club near Ajo. Once a month, anyone can get food boxes from this location, or one of its many distribution sites around the city. The boxes have standard staple foods like cereal, rice, and canned goods, and sometimes there are additional food items donated in bulk to the main distribution site that can range from cakes to bread and even fruit. The main branch is most commonly a site for extra food items and occasionally the distribution sites get extra food items to share as well.
Anyone can get a food box. Each site requires a card that can be acquired at the main office. In order to receive a card, go to the main branch with a license or ID and something that has your name and address on it (this includes mail or bills sent to your residence). Once you have the card you can pick up a food box every month from the main site or the distribution sites.
I would recommend visiting the main site if possible, because there is also a farmer’s market that allows people to buy twice as much produce for a set cost. Other distributor sites around the city are usually churches, see the link to the Community Food Bank website below for a complete list: http://www.communityfoodbank.org/
